Mr. Lawson attended the University of Illinois and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Accounting in 1992. He obtained his law degree and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University in 1995.
Mr. Lawson has maintained a diverse general practice since 1995, including the representation of businesses and individuals in all phases of litigation, including jury trials. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury litigation, including cases involving wrongful death, slip and falls, and automobile accidents. In addition to personal injury law, he has represented both builders and homeowners in residential construction disputes, and landlords and tenants in residential and commercial lease disputes. He has also maintained an active divorce practice, including litigation of child custody and visitation disputes, child support determination and collection, division of marital assets and liabilities, and domestic violence issues. He has also advised businesses on the formation of business entities, contractual matters, real estate acquisitions, employment disputes, and general corporate law. In addition to practicing at the trial level, Mr. Lawson has substantial experience practicing at the appellate level, including the litigation of appeals involving underinsured motorist coverage, insurance coverage disputes, child custody determinations, college expense allocations, denial of health benefits, and temporary injunctions.
Mr. Lawson provided volunteer assistance in the formation of a not-for-profit charitable organization, CHOICES Youth Outreach, Inc., which assists at-risk youth in the community with personal and educational goals. During the last several years, he has continued to volunteer assistance to the members of that organization, both as a volunteer and a director.
