Lawrence E. Laubscher, Jr. is a graduate of North Carolina State University (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering), the University of Baltimore (Juris Doctor), and the George Washington University (LLM in Intellectual Property Law).
He specializes in patent and trademark procurement and protection. With regard to patents, he spends a large portion of his time preparing and prosecuting patent applications for both U. S. and foreign inventors. In addition, he is directly involved in rendering patentability, infringement and validity opinions, as well as licensing and litigating patent matters. In the trademark field, Larry also prepares and prosecutes trademark applications, and handles maintenance and renewal of trademark registrations throughout the world. Trademark protection, whether it be through opposition or cancellation proceedings, or through litigation, has become a significant area of expertise.
Larry is a former chairman of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Virginia State Bar and former President of the Patent Lawyers Club of Washington. He is also an active member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the International Trademark Association, and the Maryland State Bar Association. His second language is French.
In addition to serving clients of LELG, Larry also will continue his separate intellectual property law practice with Laubscher & Laubscher, P.C., in Annapolis, Maryland. Larry will practice with LELG from his Annapolis office while traveling to Virginia to meet with LELG's clients on a frequent basis.
