Carol Laughbaum is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School. She has been with Deborah Gordon PLC or its predecessor, Stark & Gordon, since 1993. For nearly twenty years, Carol has vigorously and successfully represented plaintiffs in employment and other civil rights cases at the trial and appellate court levels. Recently, Ms. Laughbaum convinced the U.S. Court of Appeals to reverse an erroneous lower court ruling in a retaliatory discharge case brought against a Fortune 500 company, in favor of her client. Her dedication and commitment to obtaining justice for her clients, who often face a seemingly David vs. Goliath challenge in the courts, is unsurpassed.
Carol has written or co-written numerous amicus (friend of the court) briefs which have been filed with the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court on issues of major importance in the area of employment and civil rights law. Carol is a contributing author to Employment Litigation in Michigan, Michigan Causes of Action Formbook, and Advising the Older Client (all published by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education), and has written numerous articles on employment law and litigation. She has often been interviewed and quoted in the press regarding her cases.
