Laurie focuses her practice on patents in biotechnology, chemistry and pharmaceuticals. She works with a range of clients, including small, venture-funded start-ups, mid-sized biotechnology companies and multinational pharmaceutical companies.
Laurie specializes in developing competitive intellectual property strategies that integrate scientific and business considerations into the complex landscape of regulatory and patent law. She assists many clients in designing and securing worldwide patent strategies in connection with clinically approved products and products in clinical development. She counsels clients on a variety of matters, including life-cycle management, development of licensing strategies, freedom to operate analysis, operational and formal opinion work, the design and maintenance of collaborations, Hatch-Waxman issues, and other relevant patent and business considerations. Laurie has also counseled many companies in acquiring and divesting intellectual property assets, and has conducted due diligence on numerous patent portfolios for her clients.
