Mr. Urrutia joined Finkelstein & Partners in 1998. He has argued cases in the Court of Appeals, New York States highest Court, as well as in the Appellate Division and was selected as a “Mover and Shaker” in the field of Law by the Syracuse newspapers.
Among his notable victories for his clients was a $300K settlement during jury selection for an Oneida County man who was injured when a jackhammer malfunctioned. The man received serious injuries to his face and head, and underwent multiple surgical and facial reconstructive procedures. In 2010, Mr. Urrutia had two back to back trials that resulted in a combined recovery of $1.2 million. One of his clients had received second degree burns to his knees and thighs from prolonged exposure to cement. The other client suffered partial amputation of the tips of two fingers on his non-dominant hand when a load of steel was lowered on his hand. Julio negotiated a $200K settlement for an Onondaga County man who sustained multiple fractures with surgery from a motorcycle accident. He also tried to a $750K verdict a case involving a Plaintiff who sustained a serious eye injury after an unrestrained dog ran into the street in front of the man’s motorcycle. Mr. Urrutia negotiated a $975K settlement for a construction worker who fell at a construction site and underwent five surgeries to his knees.
In his spare time Julio enjoys reading and is an amateur photographer. He is a frequent speaker at Career Day events in the Syracuse City School District.
