Over the past 18 years Becki Ueno has been a leader in the environmental and social justice community; organizing countless volunteers, local organizations, companies, and political leaders to leverage their power to effect positive change. She has worked directly with state legislators to pass renewable energy legislation, protect our national forests and parks, and institute sustainable building practices on a state-wide level. Becki has also directed campaign and fundraising offices for a wide range of well known non profits such as the Sierra Club, Environment California, and Save the Children.
Becki Ueno became a lawyer so that she could continue her advocacy work on a local and global scale. As an attorney, she has spent several years representing victims of Hurricane Katrina, factory workers forced to work overtime without proper compensation or breaks, and prisoners not receiving adequate health care. Becki has the greatest compassion for those individuals who have suffered such harms, and continue to represent plaintiffs in select cases.
Her primary focus is on representing individuals, businesses and non-profits interested in creating sustainable and lasting organizations that seek to have a positive impact on their community. Becki works with a wide range of companies from sole proprietors selling merchandise in their small online stores to complex corporations with triple and quadruple bottom lines. She also works with a wide range of non profit organizations including those that seek to alleviate poverty across the globe to those that seek to preserve their local cultural history.
In her spare time, Becki continues to be involved in the community as a board member of the Asian Classics Institute of Los Angeles. She also can be found hiking mountain trails, walking along the beaches of Southern California or preparing delicious local, seasonal and organic meals for friends and family.
