Lake, William Gregory

Tracy joined Jones Day in October 2006. She drafts and prosecutes biotechnology and pharmaceutical patents and conducts research for European oppositions.

As a graduate student, Tracy conducted research in biochemistry and cell biology on the mechanisms of membrane fusion and organelle biogenesis. Armed with a better knowledge of cellular transport, she revisited her earlier interest in microbial pathogenesis (developed during her undergraduate studies) as a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University, where she investigated the interaction of hepatitis C and retroviruses with their host cells. Tracy has published several scientific papers and has presented her research at international conferences and has earned fellowship support from the Beckman Foundation, National Science Foundation, and National Institutes of Health. Her transition to intellectual property law is underpinned by this multidisciplinary research background as well as by her extensive experience as a writer, editor, and reviewer of technical and nontechnical publications and grant applications.
