Richard F. Kurz is employed in the New York office of Frommer Lawrence & Haug LLP.
Mr. Kurz received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1990. He received his law degree with honors in 2010 from Franklin Pierce Law Center (now known as the University of New Hampshire School of Law) with a concentration in Intellectual Property. While at Franklin Pierce, he served as Editor-in-Chief for Volume 50 of IDEA: The Intellectual Property Law Review.
Before law school, Mr. Kurz spent seventeen years working at Temple-Inland, Inc. While at Temple-Inland, he spent ten years as an engineer and as a division engineering department manager working with software development, process control, systems integration, local area networks, power distribution, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), servo control, hydraulic control, process instrumentation, sensors, AC/DC variable speed drives, motors, SCADA and HMIs.
During Mr. Kurz’s time as an engineer, he was on the project teams that designed and built four “greenfield” composite panel manufacturing plants that produced, respectively, medium density fiberboard (MDF), particleboard, gypsum wallboard and cement fiberboard. As a result, he has extensive experience with different materials processing machinery, packaging machinery, gas- and wood-fired boilers, power distribution equipment, motor control and industrial construction.
After working as an engineer, Mr. Kurz spent seven years in manufacturing, both as a Production Manager and as a Manufacturing Manager. In this capacity, he gained experience with materials processing, Six Sigma, industrial maintenance, accounting, quality assurance, and facilities management.
