Rebecca concentrates her practice in a variety of commercial real estate and finance areas. In recent years, she has been involved in a number of complex transactions spanning from coast to coast. In particular, Rebecca has experience assisting both buyers and sellers—including private equity funds— with commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, which have included both single asset and complex multi-property, multi-state portfolio transactions. In the area of commercial leasing, Rebecca has represented both landlords and tenants in the negotiation of commercial leases, including sale-leaseback transactions.

Rebecca also has significant construction financing experience, representing institutional lenders and borrowers in facilitating multi-bank syndicated and non-syndicated financings, including tax-exempt industrial revenue bond financings. Recent experience has included the negotiation, on behalf of a major real estate developer, of more than $850 million in construction financing from national and regional banks for large class A office, condominium, industrial and mixed-use projects located throughout the United States.

Rebecca has also represented lenders in loan workouts and restructuring, assisting with the strategy and negotiation of settlements for distressed borrowers. She also concentrates a portion of her practice on representing financial institutions in asset-based lending transactions.

Rebecca's recent transactional experience includes representation of:

  • Private investment funds with the planned disposition of a $90 million multi-property, multi-state office portfolio sale and the $51 million acquisition and financing of 450,000-square-foot retail power center in Texas;
  • A seller with the disposition of a 95,000-square-foot condominiumized sport and event facility in an urban redevelopment district with conditional ad valorem tax exemption;
  • A national commercial real estate developer in securing a $105 million syndicated, multi-lender construction financing for a three-phase class A office project to serve as the new headquarters for a large privately held multinational company in Minnesota; $55 million syndicated construction financing for a luxury condominium project in Washington; a three-phase $35 million construction financing for a class A office project in Kansas with Industrial Revenue Bond financing; and $45 million construction financing for a mixed-use residential and retail project in Virginia;
  • A national bank in connection with the refinancing of a $150 million commercial loan revolving credit warehousing facility;
  • An agent bank in connection with a $50 million multi-lender, syndicated secured senior revolving credit facility as part of a loan workout and reorganization; and
  • Private investment funds as both the senior and junior mezzanine lenders providing financing for the borrower’s acquisition of a new company.
Rebecca received her B.B.A. magna cum laude from the University of North Dakota, where she majored in business and aviation. She received her law degree summa cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, where she was a staff member of the William Mitchell Law Review. She is a member of the firm’s Recruiting Committee. Rebecca joined Briggs in 2005.
