Ron Kowalski joined the firm in January, 1994, and has been a partner since 2000.  Ron holds a B.A. (1988, Politics and Fine Arts double major) from Fairfield University, a J.D. (1991, cum laude) from Suffolk University Law School and is admitted to practice before Connecticut's state courts as well as the U.S. District Courts for the District of Connecticut, Southern District of New York and Eastern District of New York.

The primary focus of Ron's practice is civil litigation and appellate practice, and includes property tax appeals, affordable housing appeals, zoning appeals, condemnation cases, foreclosures, lease and other contract-related litigation.  In connection with these matters, Ron regularly appears before state and federal courts and local administrative boards.  Since 2004, Ron has served as an Attorney Trial Referee and as a Fact Finder/Arbitrator for the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch and since 2003, as a Special Master in tax appeal cases in the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District.

Ron was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in Administrative Law in 1990, was on the Suffolk University Law School Moot Court Board and served as law clerk to the Hon. William J. Lavery in the Connecticut Appellate Court during the 1991-1992 term.

Ron has attained the AV Peer Review Rating by LexisNexis Martindale Hubbell.  AV is the highest possible rating, signifying very high to preeminent legal ability and integrity and is awarded based on confidential survey responses from other practicing attorneys.

Ron has also been a panelist in programs on issues including property revaluation, condemnation, government and politics.  He has been Program Speaker and Chair for a Connecticut Bar Association seminar titled "Real Estate Tax Appeals in Connecticut - Practical Perspectives," in 2004, 2006 and 2009.  In 2006, Ron spoke on "Significant Cases in Connecticut Assessment Practice" at the Connecticut Appraisers Education Expo, sponsored by the Connecticut Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and Connecticut Real Estate Appraisal Education Foundation, and authored "Keeping Real Estate Taxes in Check," which appeared in the December, 2007 issue of the New England Real Estate Journal.  Ron recently appeared on The Exchange with David Smith on WICC AM 600 (Bridgeport) to discuss valuation and tax appeal issues.

Ron is active in community and civic affairs.  Ron has served on the Easton Police Commission since 2004, including a term as Chairman, having previously served as a member of the Easton Planning & Zoning Commission from 2000 to 2004.  Ron also serves as Chairman of the Easton Democratic Town Committee, as Chair of the Democratic Town Chairs of the Fourth Congressional District, is an Easton Little League volunteer, and since 2007 has been a Volunteer Presenter for The Climate Project speaking on the topic of global climate change.  Ron was a member of the Norwalk YMCA Board of Directors from 1998 to 2007, and served in many capacities, including as Chair of its Legal Committee, Second Vice-Chair of the Board, a member of its Child Care Committee and on various ad-hoc committees.  From 1996 through 2001, Ron was a member of the Stamford Rotary Club, co-chairing its bi-annual food drive which, on an annual basis, collects over four thousand pounds of food for the benefit of the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County.  Ron is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Fairfield County Bar Association, Inc., is Co-Chair of its Appellate Practice Committee, is an affiliate member of the Appraisal Institute, is listed in Who's Who In American Law, and is a Life Member in the National Registry of Who's Who, and of the Madison Who's Who of Executives and Professionals.
