John Kotelly joined Dickstein Shapiro in 1981 and is currently serving as senior counsel in the Securities - Litigation, Regulatory, & Compliance - Practice. Mr. Kotelly focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense litigation, securities litigation, and complex civil litigation, usually involving allegations of fraud, representing clients both as plaintiff's counsel and as defense counsel. Before joining the firm, he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1969 to 1981 and concentrated on fraud and public corruption cases. During his eleven years as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Kotelly conducted numerous grand jury investigations, and tried more than 150 jury trials to verdict. Since making the transition into private practice, he has been involved in numerous civil and criminal actions in federal and state courts, four of which have resulted in jury trials which have gone to verdict.
