Mr. Thomsen is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible peer review rating. He is a graduate of Cornell University and Drake University School of Law. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, American Bankruptcy Law Forum, Ohio State Bar Association, and Dayton Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in Ohio, The U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Ohio and Northern District of Ohio. Mr. Thomsen has lectured frequently on creditor’s rights and bankruptcy topics, and has been a panel member at the Southern District of Ohio (Bankruptcy) Bench-Bar Conference and Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Seminar. He has also served as a member of the Merit Selection Panel (2006-2007) for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Ohio, Western Division at Dayton. He currently sits on the Standing Committee of the Local Rules Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Mr. Thomsen has been published in the Dayton Bar Briefs and on the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees website.
Mr. Thomsen has represented individuals, small businesses and large businesses in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 matters. He was counsel of record for the prevailing party in Norbut v. Norbut, 387 B.R. 199 (2008), Gehring v. Gehring, 347 B.R. 257 (2006), and James R. Warren, Trustee v. Society Corporation, et al., 134 B.R. 627 (1991). He has also served as Receiver for a local national bank.
Mr. Thomsen also is committed to public service. He served on the Springboro Community City School Board from 2006-2009. He currently is on the Board of the Dayton Visual Arts Center, and has served as its President, Vice-President, and Treasurer. He also currently serves on the Board of The Muse Machine, a nationally recognized arts program for primary and secondary students.
