Scott is a shareholder in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is based in our Minneapolis office and is a member of the Business Litigation Section and Appellate Practice Group. Scott practices principally in the areas of:
Prior to joining Briggs, Scott practiced with the Washington, D.C. firm of Latham and Watkins. He also served as a law clerk to Justice William H. Rehnquist of the U.S. Supreme Court and to Judge Edward A. Tamm of the U.S. Court of Appeals, District of Columbia.
Scott is currently a member of the board of directors of the Minnesota chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He is also chairman of the board of directors of Minnesota Landmarks and serves on the organization’s executive and finance committees. He is a member of the Chairman’s Cabinet of the Northern Star Council of Boy Scouts of America and co-chair of its advancement committee. He is a former co-chair of the Citizens’ Advisory Budget and Finance Committee to the St. Paul School Board.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Scott received his B.A. magna cum laude in economics from Harvard University. He received his law degree summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he was elected to Order of the Coif. Scott was also a research editor for the Minnesota Law Review. He joined Briggs in 1988.
