Kirchner, Bryan M.

Avelin P. Tacon III became a lawyer in 1971, serving as an attorney for four years with the U.S. Army's Judge Advocate General Corps after graduating from the University of Texas School of Law. He has been engaged in private practice in Olympia since 1975. His practice became focused in the late 1970's on personal injury, workers' compensation and Social Security disability law.

In the late 1980's, he also became interested in arbitration and mediation as more economical methods to resolve disputes. He has been a member of the Mandatory Arbitration Panel of Thurston and Mason County since their inception. He has also served as District Court Judge Pro-Tem intermittently since 1976 and conducts mediation and pre-trial conferences for civil jury cases in Thurston County District Court. Avelin has developed a private practice mediating personal injury disputes at the request of plaintiffs' lawyers, defense lawyers, the state of Washington and insurance companies. However, the main focus of his practice continues to be the representation of injured people.

Avelin has been identified by the monthly publication Washington Law and Politics as one of the 500 best lawyers in the state of Washington.

Avelin received his undergraduate degree from Trinity University in 1968 and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Texas School of Law.

Avelin is a long-time member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives.
