Kent Killelea has extensive experience in taxation of financial instruments and partnership taxation, as well as related areas in foreign taxation and the taxation of pass-through and financial entities.
While serving as legislation counsel to the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, Kent's areas of responsibility included financial products, partnerships and other pass-through entities, and some foreign taxation. Kent had primary staff responsibility for the recent tax legislation on "short-against-the-box" transactions and stapled REITs and the Joint Committee's recent proposals for reform of partnership taxation. Previous to his government work, he was an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and at Arnold & Porter.
Kent is active in several professional and civic organizations, including serving on the board of Capitol Partners, an organization that provides private and parochial school scholarships to low-income students from the District of Columbia.
