Kitra K. Killen is a Senior Associate Attorney at Goldberg, Weisman & Cairo, Ltd. She has practiced Workers’ Compensation Law for 24 years and has been with Goldberg Weisman Cairo since 1992. Kitra graduated from John Marshall Law School in 1985 and is a long-time member of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association. Her practice focuses on representing individuals who have been injured while working by successfully litigating for their rights at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Illinois Circuit Court and at the Illinois Appellate Court.
Kitra was raised in Northern Illinois and has a family background with strong Union affiliations. Her grandmother was a UAW Union Member for over 25 years. In the 1930’s Kitra’s grandfather helped organize a Union in Central Illinois for Coal Miner Workers. Kitra was a proud UAW Union Member while working on the assembly line at Chrysler for 3 summers during college and learned to have a great respect for Union Workers during that time.
During her 24 years of experience representing injured workers’, she has successfully litigated a variety of cases including highly disputed matters, severe injuries, loss of trade, and death cases. Her vast experience includes workers suffering from injuries and conditions such as amputations, severe spinal injuries, regional pain syndrome (RSD), carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), and career ending injuries to the back, knees and shoulders.
Kitra is extremely proud of her successful litigation to the Illinois Appellate Court, in particular, for a highly disputed case involving a Sheet Metal Worker who contracted a unique fungus at work with near fatal results. She obtained an Arbitration Award in excess of $350,00.00, which was upheld on Appeal.
