Robert F. Kidd is of counsel to the firm. His practice engages all aspects of bankruptcy and insolvency practice, representing both businesses and individuals, as creditors and debtors, in litigation, in bankruptcy cases and in out-of-court workouts.
He is admitted to appear before the United States Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts and Bankruptcy Courts of the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California, and the courts of the State of California. He is a panel mediator for the Bankruptcy Dispute Resolution Panel of the Northern District of California. He has been named a Super Lawyer by San Francisco Magazine, an honor bestowed on just 5% of the lawyers practicing in Northern California.
Mr. Kidd graduated from Columbia University in 1970, where he was captain of the Varsity Crew. He graduated from the School of Law of the University of California at Davis in 1977, where he was a member of the U.C. Davis Law Review. He is author of “California’s Evidence Code Section 1040: Discovery of Governmental Information,” 10 U.C.D. Law Rev. 367-392 (1977), and “Partnered in Debt: The Impact of California’s new Registered Domestic Partner Law on Creditors’ Remedies and Debtors’ Rights,” 28 Calif. Bankr. J. 148-193 (2006). He frequently speaks to professional and trade associations regarding insolvency issues.
Before joining Donahue Gallagher Woods LLP, he served as of counsel to the law firm Stein, Rudser, Cohen & Magid LLP.
He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including: the Alameda County Bar Association; the Bay Area Bankruptcy Forum; the Bar Association of San Francisco; and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Mr. Kidd will serve as president of the Oakland Rotary Club during 2012-2013. He has been a member of the board of directors of the United States Rowing Association, the Jack London Aquatic Center, Inc., Oakland Rotary Club, the Oakland Ballet, Alameda County Legal Assistance for Seniors, Bishop O’Dowd High School, St. Paul’s Episcopal School, and the Lake Merritt Breakfast Club.
