Lisa M. Kavalhuna is a partner with Hertz Schram and works with clients conducting business in various industries or matters relating to initial organization, structuring, private financing and securities regulation, acquisitions and dispositions of business assets and interests, business separations, business succession matters and other areas impacting closely held businesses and large business concerns.
Counseling clients regarding business organization and management issues with respect to internal matters and relationships with employees, customers, lenders, joint venture partners, investors, and suppliers comprises a large portion of Ms. Kavalhuna's client services. In performing these services, Ms. Kavalhuna applies her experience to protect the best interests of the firms' clients by addressing issues such as the need for confidentiality, non-solicitation and non-competition provisions in key relationships. She has extensive experience in the formation and structuring of limited liability companies and joint venture transactions.
Ms. Kavalhuna earned her law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law where she was a member of the Moot Court. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University in 1990. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Kavalhuna worked with the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office in Kalamazoo, Michigan, as a Witness Coordinator in the Victim Assistance - Witness Division. She has served as an adjunct faculty member at Davenport University teaching Business Law and is a periodic lecturer on business related topics.
Ms. Kavalhuna is a member of the Michigan, Ohio, and Oakland County Bar Associations and of the Women Business Owners of South Eastern Michigan and the Michigan Network of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation. She is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Michigan.
