Eric Stops' current practice focuses on Hatch-Waxman patent litigation. He is currently representing innovator pharmaceutical companies in litigations concerning Thalomid® (a thalidomide composition for the treatment of multiple myeloma and erythema nodosum leprosum), Namenda® (an Alzheimer's disease treatment), Skelaxin® (a muscle relaxant), and Avinza® (an extended release morphine sulphate pain reliever). He also has been involved in pharmaceutical litigations relating to Altace® (an ACE inhibitor for high blood pressure), Univasc® and Uniretic® (ACE inhibitors), Sonata® (a non-benzodiazepine sedative), MiraLax™ (a stool softener), Prefest® (birth control pill), and Veralan PM® (an antihypertensive). He also has litigated patent cases involving industrial chemical compositions and medical devices. Eric has participated in all aspects of patent litigation, including pre-suit investigation, trial, and appeal.

In addition to litigation, Eric's practice includes counseling clients regarding patent portfolio evaluation and analysis and the preparation of opinions concerning the patentability of inventions, validity of patents, and freedom-to-operate prospective technologies. His practice involves the development of licensing strategies and the negotiation and preparation of agreements as well.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Eric worked at Pennie & Edmonds from 2000 through 2003.
