Chase Karsman's practice focuses on representing and counseling management clients in labor and employment matters. Chase represents clients on employment matters involving a number of federal and state statutes, including Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. With respect to labor matters, Chase has defended employers against claims filed under the National Labor Relations Act, including unfair labor practice cases and representation cases. He also has experience in pursuing injunctive relief in federal and state courts during labor strikes.
In the area of counseling, Chase advises employers on a wide array of labor and employment issues, including employment agreements, noncompete agreements, and compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws.
Chase has written on a variety of topics, including labor issues, management techniques, and litigation avoidance. Prior to joining Jones Day in 2006, he was an associate in the labor & employment group of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington, D.C.
