KENNETH A. KANFER is a partner specializing in commercial litigation, real estate, commercial transactions, and matrimonial law. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1962, Mr. Kanfer was admitted to the New York and Pennsylvania Bars in 1988. Mr. Kanfer has vast experience before trial and appellate courts in the myriad issues affecting commercial and corporate litigation as well as matrimonial and family law. He also has an active corporate and real estate practice representing a national lender and buyers and sellers of commercial and residential properties throughout the New York metropolitan area.
In April 2004, Mr. Kanfer was appointed by the Hon. Judith S. Kaye, Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals, to serve on the Commission to Examine Solo and Small Firm Practice. The Commission, comprised of twenty-eight attorneys, was charged with examining the difficulties facing solo and small firm practitioners, a contingent that totals approximately 80 percent of the attorneys in New York. The Commission issued a comprehensive report to Chief Judge Kaye in January 2006 which is available on-line at www.courts.state.ny.us.
In April 2006, Mr. Kanfer was appointed by the Hon. Jonathan Lippman, Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York, to serve as a member of the Advisory Council for the Housing Part of the Civil Court of the City of New York. The Advisory Council is charged with evaluating and recommending candidates for appointment to the Housing Court.
Mr. Kanfer is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association. Mr. Kanfer received his undergraduate and law degrees from Syracuse University.
