Professional Experience 

Lisa Stevens is an associate whose practice focuses on bankruptcy, commercial litigation and insurance recovery. She has significant experience working with businesses in financial distress and has represented corporate debtors, lenders, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, hotel developers, and homebuilders in all aspects of litigation, deal making and dispute resolution.

Prior to joining Yumkas, Vidmar & Sweeney, LLC, Ms. Stevens represented corporate policyholders in insurance coverage disputes in State and Federal Courts throughout the country and abroad in international arbitration. She has been involved in all aspects of litigation and has successfully recovered millions of dollars for her clients. In addition to her insurance coverage work, Ms. Stevens has litigated complex commercial contract disputes and business-related torts.

Ms. Stevens served as a law clerk for The Honorable James P. Salmon of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals from 2004 to 2005. In 2003, she was a Rose Zetzer Fellow at the National Women's Law Center and a summer associate at Dickstein Shapiro, LLC. During law school, Ms. Stevens was a research assistant for the Center for Health and Homeland Security and interned with The Honorable Andre M. Davis of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.

Ms. Stevens received her J.D., with honors, from The University of Maryland School of Law, where she served as the Notes and Comments Editor of The Maryland Law Review. In addition, Ms. Stevens was awarded The Joseph Bernstein Prize for the most significant piece of legal writing submitted for publication in The Maryland Law Review during 2003 to 2004. She received her B.S., cum laude, in microbiology, with distinction, from The Ohio State University, where she was awarded the Presidential Leadership Citation, Outstanding Senior Award, and inducted into SPHINX Senior Honorary.
