Robert grew up in Palo Alto, California. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in history with honors from UC Berkeley, he accepted a graduate fellowship at the American University in Cairo, Egypt. Here, he furthered his interest in gender studies and international law. While in Cairo, Robert received his Master of Arts degree and served as a staff writer and editor of his program's academic publication.
After his international experience, Robert attended Boston College Law School and identified family law as his professional focus. He actively participated in the Lambda Law Students Association for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students and the Civil Litigation Clinic.
Before returning to the Bay Area, he interned with the District Attorney's Office and Federal Public Defender's Office in Boston as well as the District Attorney's Office in New York City. Before joining Heath-Newton, LLP, Robert practiced family law at Cornerstone Law Group and Heath Law Group. He has exclusively practiced family law since 2008 and focuses on high-asset dissolution cases, child-custody matters, and adoptions.
