For almost a quarter century at Jones Day, Steve Kaczynski has practiced in the areas of product liability and general commercial litigation, most specifically, as one of the most senior litigators on the national coordinating counsel team for the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in the smoking and health litigation.

Most recently, Steve has served as one of only three Jones Day Partners who have functioned as lead counsel in the Engle progeny cases in Florida. In other representations, Steve was lead trial counsel for the industry in the successful defense of the first smoking and health case to be tried in New York City. In addition, in 2002, Steve served as lead counsel for the industry in the first defense victory in California since 1985. Steve also has prevailed in the first smoking and health case to be tried in Manhattan. Before joining Jones Day, Steve served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, where he tried more than 100 cases as a prosecutor and defense counsel, and was a member of the staff and faculty of The Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Steve has been recognized as an Ohio "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics magazine for as long as that status has existed and is profiled in Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America. In the Army, Steve was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for service at the Army JAG School, the Army Commendation Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster) for service with the 25th Infantry Division, and the Army Achievement Medal for authoring the Operational Law Handbook for the Deploying Judge Advocate.
