DIVORCE/LEGAL SEPARATION/ DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP TERMINATION (Pre-Judgment/Post-Judgment)
 
I understand that in even the simplest divorce/legal separation/domestic partnership termination matters can be emotionally exhausting and stressful. Me and my staff are experienced to handle delicate cases with the upmost compassion for my clients' peace of mind.

I am experienced and able to handle the most complex cases and can rise to any occasion.

Divorces/Legal Separations/Domestic Partnership Terminations most often encompass child custody and visitation issues, spousal and/or child support, property division and separate property determination, debt division and allocation, restraining orders, and much more. Once I am retained for services, I ensure that all aspects of your case are discussed and resolved, whether by agreement outside of Court or litigation when necessary.

My clients who wish to retain more control over the terms of their divorce/ legal separation/domestic partnership termination should consider Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) which allows for the resolution of conflicts without going to trial. In addition, ADR is a mechanism which can be utilized to resolve disagreements for which courts do not recognize rights, such as issues between same grandparent custody and visitation claims. My practice is able to determine which cases may be best resolved in this forum, as well as provide guidance through the process. In many instances, clients are satisfied with the results of mediation over litigation.

Either through the courts or ADR, my goal is to work toward a fair resolution of your concerns, while avoiding unnecessary public exposure of private issues and unnecessary costly litigation.

PARENTAGE CASES
 
A Parentage case is one that involves a minor child of parents who are not married to each other. These cases are especially important because unmarried parents do not often realize how easily their custodial rights may become at stake when there are no Court orders.

A Parentage case encompasses child custody, visitation and child support matters. There are times where a Domestic Violence Restraining Order may be necessary to protect a parent or even the child.

Parentage cases are similar to that of a divorce in that a Judgment must be completed to effectuate permanent and final orders. Parentage cases can also be handled by way of a full agreement between the parties which often times eliminates future conflict and provides clarity to the parties or Court for intervention when necessary.

GUARDIANSHIP CASES
 
Guardianship cases may be initiated by a person who is related or even not related to the child when the parent(s) of the child can not adequately care for their child(ren). These cases are handled in the Probate arena which my office is very familiar with.

My office handles all aspects of Guardianship cases including the request for Guardianship as well as an objection to a Guardianship.

I am often Court appointed as Minors' Counsel to represent the best interests of minor children involved in Guardianship cases. This gives additional perspective as I am familiar with every aspect of a Guardianship case and what is expected of the Guardians.

GRANDPARENTS' RIGHTS
 
Grandparents do have rights in California. Although grandparents' rights have to be balanced against parent rights and other factors, I have succeeded in obtaining rights for grandparents. For more information, please contact my office for your initial consultation.

STEPPARENT ADOPTIONS
 
Adoption cases are very rewarding as the children are often anxious to the adopting parent as their own. Adoptions fall under the realm of Probate law. I have had the honor of overseeing several stepparent adoption cases through to the conclusion.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
 
I represent clients located in and around Victorville and the surrounding areas in matters of domestic violence, focusing on the unique needs of each client.

Domestic violence exists where, in any relationship (e.g., spouses, significant others, life partners, family members, or people who live or have lived together), a person causes bodily injury, sexually assaults, threatens, harasses, destroys personal property, or disturbs the peace of another. If you are a victim of such domestic violence or emotional abuse, I can help you obtain a "move-out" order and orders restraining the other party's conduct. A restraining order may direct the named party not to approach you, your children or other persons who live in your home, your home, work, or vehicle, and may prohibit any efforts to communicate with you, or to transfer money or other property. Time is of the essence when seeking a domestic violence restraining order. In all domestic violence matters, I will do all I can to resolve such very personal and often painful legal matters as quickly and sensitively as possible.
