Steve Jumes is a Board Certified Criminal Lawyer with over 16 years legal experience and over 13 years of prosecution.

Since leaving the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office in 2006, Mr. Jumes joined UBS Financial Services, Inc. to provide investment advice and tax planning strategies for individuals and businesses. Following his time at UBS Financial Services, he joined the United States Attorney’s Office to serve the public as a prosecutor in the criminal division, with a specialization in criminal and civil forfeiture.

Mr. Jumes is uniquely qualified to represent clients in sophisticated and contentious white collar, forfeiture, and tax controversies. As a former United States Attorney’s Office trial attorney in the Criminal Division in Dallas, TX, with years of experience in complex, high-profile money laundering, wire fraud, healthcare fraud, tax, and forfeiture matters. He interacted significantly with the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Justice Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering Section, the Department of Treasury Executive Office of Asset Forfeiture, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Texas State Attorney General’s Medicare and Medicaid Fraud Office, and the Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of Public Debt.

With such case experience and collegial interaction with these agencies, Mr. Jumes has an insider's understanding of IRS and other federal agency policies, procedures and strategies. He is a veteran trial attorney who is also highly proficient in the technical, and often confusing, aspects of forfeiture law. Mr. Jumes has tried over 100 jury trials, multiple bench trials to verdict, and has settled countless other matters at the IRS administrative level, in state and federal courts, or otherwise without the need of trial. Since college, Mr. Jumes has been specifically dedicated to issues combining criminal law, financial investment, and business expansion issues. He continues to work diligently to stay knowledgeable of the latest trends in criminal jurisprudence, particularly in the forfeiture arena.

Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Jumes served Tarrant and Dallas counties, where he prosecuted and led investigations in a number of high profile cases of homicide and child abuse, including the successful trial prosecution of a road-rage murderer and a substitute teacher, multiple youth pastors, a day care provider, a police officer, and others for abusing the public trust as it pertains to the welfare of children. During that time he also worked as a financial advisor for UBS, Inc. as well as long time seasonal service in a tax preparation office.
