Charles C. Stebbins, III ("Clay") is a lifelong Georgia resident and a graduate of Harvard College (A.B. magna cum laude, 1971) and Harvard Law School (J.D. 1975). After serving successively as a law clerk for the Honorable Robert E. Varner, United States District Judge for the Middle District of Alabama, and for the Honorable Richard T. Rives, Senior Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, he joined the predecessor of Warlick, Tritt, Stebbins & Hall in 1978 and has practiced law, with emphasis on litigation, continuously in Augusta since that time. He has appeared and argued in many trial courts of Georgia and South Carolina, and before appellate courts of Georgia, all federal courts in Georgia, including the Federal Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as in the trial and appellate courts of several other states. In addition to maintaining a general business and corporate practice, he represents both plaintiffs and defendants in all types of litigation, primarily business and corporate but also damage suits of all kinds, including some tort and personal injury matters, and has extensive experience in real estate and other matters connected with the timber and paper industries. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Alabama State Bar. He is 58 years old and is rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell’s Legal Directory, its highest rating.
