A cum laude graduate of Duke University, Suzanne received her juris doctorate from Vanderbilt School of Law. A lawyer for more than twenty-four years, she began her law career in Connecticut and Boston, Massachusetts until settling in Maine. Suzanne has worked with many families who have suffered the loss of a loved one through a sudden and all too often short-lived diagnosis of a life-threatening illness. Due to the Firm's extensive experience in representing those injured by exposure to asbestos or other harmful workplace environments, she is well-versed in the myriad issues which arise from the untimely death or injury of a family member. She has the compassion her clients need and the experience to help them manage during times of sadness as it relates to the long-term effects on finances, real estate and family dynamics. Since joining McTeague Higbee, she has worked closely with G. William Higbee on asbestos litigation matters. She represents shipyard workers in related pulmonary and also hearing loss claims in the federal longshore system. She also is a registered representative of claimants seeking social security disability benefits.
Suzanne is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys. She provides assistance to clients from making out a Last Will & Testament, Health Care Directive and Power of Attorney for disability planning to routine assistance with bill paying and trust management. She acts as guardian and conservator for disabled and elderly individuals and works with Maine families in the probate administration of their family member's estates.
Suzanne is active in local non-profits as well as with the environmental remediation of the Brunswick Naval Air Station.
