Laura Johnson joined Ellis, Ellis, Hammons & Johnson, P.C. in 1991. She graduated from the University of Missouri summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985. She received her Juris Doctorate cum laude from Southern Methodist University in 1988. During law school, Laura was a member of Order of the Coif and a Leading Articles Editor for the Journal of Air Law and Commerce. She is also a National Merit Scholar.
Following graduation from law school, Laura served as law clerk to the Honorable Elmo B. Hunter, United States District Court Judge for the Western District of Missouri before joining Ellis, Ellis, Hammons & Johnson. She was admitted to the Missouri Bar Association in 1988 and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Western District of Missouri, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit.
Laura practices primarily in the areas of employment, business and school law. She handles cases before administrative agencies and in state and federal court. Laura represents employers of all sizes, from sole proprietorships and small partnerships to large multi-national corporations. In addition to her legal practice, Laura is very involved with the community. She is on the board of directors of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and Least of These. She is also a member of Rotary Club and has been elected to the Board of Education of the Ozark School District.
