David E. Jefferies is a Partner with Wood, Herron & Evans and is involved in all phases of the firm's intellectual property practice. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 1998 and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio in 1999, David is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
David joined Wood, Herron & Evans in 1998 and his expertise is concentrated in patent prosecution and infringement evaluation in the areas of biology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and biomedical devices.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Earlham College in 1992, and a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from Northwestern University in 1993. Following graduate school, he continued research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, a teaching hospital affiliated with Northwestern University, where he was published as co-author of a study of gene rearrangements in diffuse large cell lymphoma. He then obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Indiana University School of Law in 1998, where he was a member of Delta Theta Phi. During law school, David was Articles Editor of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies and was published in the IJGLS.
Based on voting by his peers, David was named a Leading Lawyer in the specialty of Biotech Law by Cincy Business Magazine.
David is an active member of the American, Ohio and Cincinnati Bar Associations, American and Cincinnati Intellectual Property Law Associations, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is also a member of the Intellectual Property Alumni Advisory Board to the Indiana University School of Law. He resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.
