ROBERT A. JACOBS became a partner of the firm in 1995.
Mr. Jacobs has broad experience in many phases of real estate including the purchase, sale and financing of commercial and residential properties, commercial, store and office leasing, rent regulation, administrative law, title disputes (including adverse possession), cooperative and condominium conversions, zoning, loft conversions and appellate practice.
Mr. Jacobs has been representing large and small owners of real property in New York City since 1982 including developers, lending institutions, individual owners, receivers and not-for-profit institutions. He has been quoted extensively in leading real estate trade publications dealing with topics such as lease and contract clauses, rent regulation, lead-paint regulations and other areas of real estate.
Mr. Jacobs has practiced before the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, the Board of Standards and Appeals the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the New York State Liquor Authority and has argued numerous appeals before the Appellate Term and Appellate Division.
Mr. Jacobs is a member of the New York and Connecticut bars and heads the firm's Connecticut office, handling many Connecticut based transactions, including major commercial leases and acquisitions. Mr. Jacobs sits on the Real Property Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is a graduate of New York Law School and of Northwestern University, where he also received a Masters of Science in Journalism.
