Amanda Jacobs' practice focuses on toxic tort, personal injury, and product liability litigation. Amanda has represented clients in the tobacco, aviation, and pharmaceutical industries as well as various other product manufacturers. She has experience in defending individual personal injury and wrongful death actions, actions brought by governments and state attorneys general, and nationwide and statewide class actions brought under consumer fraud and RICO statutes.
Amanda has been a member of several trial teams. In 2005, she was a member of the team defending R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in a products liability trial in Manhattan, which resulted in a defense verdict for R.J. Reynolds. Also in 2005, Amanda was part of the team that defended R.J. Reynolds in a Long Island product liability trial, which, after a three-week trial, resulted in a directed verdict for Reynolds.
Amanda has wide experience in retaining and developing defense experts for trial. She has worked with experts in toxicology, pharmacology, pathology, social history, history of science, and epidemiology. In addition, she has experience in deposing and cross-examining fact witnesses and expert witnesses, including economists and medical experts in various fields.
Amanda is involved in pro bono legal activities, including representation of habeas corpus appeals and participation in the Firm's housing court program in conjunction with Legal Aid. She actively supports animal rights and welfare.
Amanda is the contributing editor to the Ohio chapter of the Products Liability Desk Reference. She is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
