Dave Skyer is in private practice specializing primarily in the defense of civil actions. He practices in the areas of general civil and professional liability, employment litigation, sexual abuse/molestation and elder abuse litigation, product liability litigation, insurance coverage and bad faith, complex commercial litigation, construction defect litigation, construction accident litigation, environmental litigation, governmental entity litigation, and premises liability. He has been in private practice specializing in civil litigation representing defendants since 1984.
He is a member of the American and San Diego County Bar Associations, San Diego Defense Lawyers, and the Coalition of Food Industry Counsel. He is a past member of the California Trial Lawyers of Association. He is admitted to practice in California State Courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of the State of California. He serves as an arbitrator for the San Diego Superior Court.
He is a sponsor member of the Risk Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and he has published articles for the RIMS newsletter and other industry newsletters. Dave has lectured for insurance organizations such as the San Diego Insurance Adjusters Association. He has been a guest lecturer on insurance related topics for various insurance companies as part of their continuing education programs. He has lectured on insurance issues for local industry organizations and on civil litigation at the Annual Meeting of the Coalition of Food Industry Counsel and National Food Processors Association.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Political Science at the State University of New York in Brockport in 1980, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 1983.
In his spare time, Dave enjoys music, surfing, mountaineering, rock climbing, backpacking, skiing and travel.
