Rakesh joined Luqmani Thompson and Partners in May 2011 as an assistant solicitor. He joined us from Fisher Meredith, where he was a partner and the deputy head of the immigration law department. Prior to that Rakesh was a partner at Irving & Co, where he also qualified as a solicitor in 2000. Rakesh was named in the Legal 500 for 2011 in the civil liberties section for being ‘a very hardworking strategist and tactician’.
Rakesh represents clients in all aspects of immigration law with particular emphasis on asylum, human rights, cases in the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC), judicial review and unlawful detention. Rakesh has represented clients in their appeal cases at all levels including the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords. He currently acts for clients with appeals pending in the Supreme Court, European Court of Human Rights and a reference from the Court of Appeal to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
