Jay M. Howanitz was born in Montrose, Pennsylvania on November 9, 1978. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in May, 2001, from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. After a four-year collegiate football career, Mr. Howanitz accepted a graduate-assistant position at Western Maryland College, Westminster, Maryland. During his two year tenure as a graduate assistant, he received a Master of Arts degree in May, 2003, and helped coach the Western Maryland College football program to the Division III national playoffs. Mr. Howanitz attended Florida Coastal School of Law, Jacksonville, Florida, where he was awarded his Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude. While in law school, he had the privilege of studying International Law at the University of Temple, Rome, Italy. He was also a member of the Moot Court Honor Board and editor of the law review.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Howanitz began his practice of law with Spohrer, Wilner, Maxwell & Matthews, P.A., where he focuses on products liability, premises liability and personal injury litigation.
