Miranda Hooker is a counsel in the firm's Litigation/Controversy and Securities Departments. She joined the firm in 2004.
Practice
Ms. Hooker has experience working on a wide variety of litigation matters, particularly in the area of white collar criminal defense and securities litigation. Ms. Hooker has extensive experience representing corporations, their officers, directors and employees, and individuals in criminal and civil enforcement actions, internal investigations, and commercial litigation. Ms. Hooker has defended companies and individuals in grand jury investigations and post-indictment proceedings relating to health care fraud, mortgage fraud, and conspiracy charges. She has also represented numerous individuals and companies in commercial and class action litigation.
In 2002, Ms. Hooker worked as an appellate intern at the Middlesex District Attorney's Office in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she researched and wrote criminal appellate briefs for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and argued before the Massachusetts Appeals Court. While attending law school, Ms. Hooker served as a research assistant to Professor Joseph W. Glannon. She was the recipient of the Daniel J. Fern Award and American Jurisprudence Awards in Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Torts, and Administrative Law.
Honors and Awards
Ms. Hooker was a recipient of the Boston Bar Association's 2007 "President's Award" in recognition of her pro bono work on behalf of six men detained at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Community Involvement
Ms. Hooker is a member of the Human Rights Campaign Board of Governors.
