Alec is a shareholder with the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is based in our Minneapolis office and is a member of the Business Law Section. Alec practices principally in the areas of:

• Mergers and acquisitions
• Corporate strategy and governance
• Corporate finance
• Securities regulation
• General corporate counseling

Alec concentrates his practice in mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing, public company transactions, and securities law compliance. He counsels clients in a variety of business matters, including shareholder agreements, entity selection and formation, and general contract law.

Alec counsels a wide variety of clients, including founders, issuers, investors and underwriters in public and private financings; startup and emerging growth companies; public and private companies acquiring and disposing of businesses and divisions of businesses in connection with mergers and acquisitions; and corporate management and key employees, as both corporate counsel and special counsel.

Born in Iowa City, Iowa, Alec received his B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Iowa and his J.D. from the University of Iowa School of Law. Prior to joining Briggs, Alec practiced with a law firm in New York City and was general counsel of a private equity company in Colorado. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota, New York and Colorado.
