As a founding member of Chester & Shein, P.C., David Shein brings more than 24 years of substantive legal and business experience to the representation of the firm’s clients. David focuses on the representation of established and emerging companies and financial institutions in all facets of real estate acquisition, development and financing, including asset based lending, development planning and entitlement, venture formation, due diligence, strategic business planning, capital acquisition and financing, complex contract negotiations and mergers and acquisitions.
In the areas of real estate and commercial (asset based) financing, David represents both public and privately held companies and financial institutions in complex multi-state transactions involving asset acquisition, development and specialized equity and non-equity financing formats, include securitized credit and related facilities, and traditional asset based lending. David’s experience includes representing developers and lenders in the acquisition, development, leasing, financing and/or sale of shopping centers, multi-family projects, master planned communities, resort properties, office buildings and single-family residential developments. In addition to representing clients in connection with core real estate, real estate development and related finance and M&A activities, David handles a wide range of real estate related matters including loan enforcement, foreclosures, commercial leasing, low income housing (Section 42) tax credit transactions and Section 1031 exchanges.
David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (with distinction) from the University of Arizona in 1984, with a double major in accounting and corporate finance. He graduated from Arizona State University College of Law (cum laude) in 1987. David is a Real Estate Specialist, certified by the State Bar of Arizona – Board of Legal Specialization, holds the highest rating (AV) from the Martindale- Hubbell attorney rating service and has been consistently named as a top real estate lawyer by Best Lawyers®, Chambers USA® and Southwest Super Lawyers®. David is also a Judge Pro Tem of the Maricopa County Superior Court and a Member of the State Bar of Arizona Board of Legal Specialization.
