AYAL I. SHARON, ASSOCIATE, received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University in 2001 and his J.D. from George Mason University (GMU) School of Law in 2008. Previously, Mr. Sharon obtained a B.A. in Economics from the University of Kansas in 1993, and an M.B.A. from the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) in 1999. While attending the George Mason University School of Law, he served on the Federal Circuit Bar Journal, first as a staff member, 2006-07, and later as submissions editor, 2007 08.
Mr. Sharon's practice is primarily directed to the prosecution of patents in the electrical, software, and mechanical arts. From 2001 until 2008, he worked as a patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in the areas of electronic design automation, and hardware emulation. Mr. Sharon has also interned at U.S. International Trade Commission’s (USITC) Office of Unfair Import Investigation, and worked as a patent agent for a DC area law firm.
Prior to working in the patent field, Mr. Sharon worked as a software engineer and technical writer in the fields of war-game simulation and video-on-demand systems.
He is the co author, along with Prof. Yifan Liu, GMU Operations Research Dept., of "Improving Patent Examination Efficiency and Quality: An Operations Research Analysis of the USPTO, Using Queuing Theory." 17 Fed. Cir. B.J. 133 (2007).
His professional memberships include the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the State Bar Associations of Virginia, New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia.
He is admitted to the bar in Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
