Behrooz Shariati practices intellectual property counseling and litigation, relating primarily to software, computer hardware, and networking technologies and industry standards. He has successfully represented clients in complex and highly technical patent and copyright cases involving: semiconductor design, fabrication and structure, software including threat and intrusion detection, automated software distribution and updating, network security, and ERP systems. He also has assisted clients in negotiating complex license agreements, with or without resort to litigation.
In addition to his legal experience, Behrooz brings industry and business experience from more than 15 years in the industry as a systems programmer, application programmer, technical consultant, project leader, customer support manager, development manager, and vice president for R&D for high-technology companies.
Behrooz's most recent representations include ON Semiconductor in patent litigation in the District of Delaware, Extreme Networks in patent litigation in the Eastern District of Texas, Honda America and Nordic Naturals in patent litigation in the Northern District of California, and SAP in patent litigation in the Central District of California.
While in law school he co-founded the Western State University Intellectual Property Law Association, where he served as vice president from 1991 to 1994.
He is a member of the State Bar of California (Litigation and Intellectual Property Sections) and the American Bar Association (Law & Technology and Intellectual Property Sections). Behrooz holds an international Class B parachuting license, a U.S. private pilot's license, and a SCUBA certification.
