Attorney Hitt is a 1990 graduate of Oberlin College and a 1994 cum laude graduate of the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University where he served as editor-in-chief of the law review. From 1994 to 1996 he served as a law clerk and then Deputy Chief Law Clerk to the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court. From 1996 to 1997 he served as a law clerk to Justice J. Harold Flannery of the Massachusetts Appeals Court.
In 1997, Attorney Hitt was appointed as an Assistant Attorney General in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. As an AAG, he spent eight years in the Government Bureau and served as Chief of Opinions. Attorney Hitt was then appointed as Chief of the Civil Rights Division in the Public Protection Bureau.
Attorney Hitt is a litigator in the Boston office focusing on administrative law, government investigations, business litigation, employment law, civil rights and civil liberties law, ethics law, conflicts of interest law, and constitutional law. He also is an experienced appellate attorney who has litigated a wide range of matters at every level of the federal and state courts.
Attorney Hitt is a member of the Boston Bar Association, The Boston Bar Foundation, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Norfolk County Bar Association, and the Boston Inn of Court.
