Craig Hirsch has extensive experience in all major business coverage lines and policy forms, with an emphasis on directors & officers (D&O) and errors & omissions (E&O) insurance coverage.
Craig has assisted in litigations on behalf of institutional policyholders arising from loss under a broad range of policies, including commercial general liability, employment liability, media liability, and marine insurance coverage. He has worked on numerous matters involving first-party and third-party commercial general liability (CGL) policies, business interruption and "extra expense" coverage, media and advertising liability coverage, fiduciary liability policies, employment practices liability insurance (EPLI) coverage, health care management risk policies, builder's risk coverage and surety bonds, financial institution bonds, and bankers' portfolio policies insurance policies.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2011, Craig supervised environmental pollution coverage litigation involving more than 20 insurance company defendants representing over 100 historic primary, excess, and umbrella CGL policies providing 50 years of coverage with nine-figure damages at stake. He also handled all aspects of complex civil litigations that resulted in multimillion dollar recoveries for clients. He has overseen all phases of discovery, including motion practice, fact discovery, and expert discovery. He has conducted depositions of individual and corporate representative witnesses and has managed document production databases consisting of millions of pages.
Craig has written on D&O insurance and on ways to ensure liability policy claims are paid.
