Neil Selinger is a shareholder of the firm, its chief operating officer, and co-chair of the firm's investor litigation group. A graduate of Columbia University and the New York University School of Law, Mr. Selinger joined Lowey Dannenberg in 1976. He has spent his entire legal career representing plaintiffs in investor-related litigation. Among the clients Mr. Selinger has represented are the New York City Pension Funds, The New York State Common Retirement Fund, the Denver Employees Retirement System, Federated Investors (including the Federated Kaufmann Fund), and the Dreyfus family of mutual funds.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Selinger has recorded a string of notable achievements for his clients. Most recently, he secured a $79.75 million settlement in the nine-year securities class action In Re Philip Services Corp. Securities Litigation. The settlement included a $50.5 million payment from Deloitte & Touche, believed to be the largest recovery from a Canadian accounting firm. In approving the settlement, the Court in Philip noted that Mr. Selinger represented the class with "maximum effectiveness."

In WorldCom Securities Litigation, Mr. Selinger obtained an extraordinary $79 million recovery for the New York City Pension Funds. He also served as Court-appointed Liaison Counsel in the WorldCom cases , a role for which he was repeatedly praised by the Court ("I want to thank Mr. Selinger again publicly. I have done it many a time during the course of this litigation. He has performed a marvelous service.")

In 2002, Mr. Selinger obtained a landmark decision from the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit protecting the rights of United States citizens to sue foreign companies who fraudulently sell their securities in the United States. DiRienzo v. Philip Services Corp., 294 F.3d 21 (2d Cir.), cert. denied , 123 S. Ct. 556 (2002). Mr. Selinger has extensive experience prosecuting class actions on behalf of U.S. investors in foreign based companies.

Other noteworthy matters handled by Mr. Selinger include In re Seagate Technology, Inc. Shareholders Litigation, CA No. 17932 (Del. Ch. Apr. 9, 2001) ($200 million settlement; the Court noted that "there was some high-wall lawyering done here."); In re CINAR Securities Litigation, Master File No. 00 CV 1086 (E.D.N.Y., Dec. 2, 2002) ($27.25 million settlement; the court found that the "quality of [Lowey Dannenberg's] representation has been excellent); In re Oracle Securities Litigation, Master File C-90-0931 (VRW) (N.D. Cal. 1994) ($25 million settlement; the Court wrote that "class counsel's able, persistent, and patient performance in achieving the present recovery has not gone unnoticed."); and In re Citizens Utilities Company Shareholders Litigation , Civil Action No. 12992 (Del. Ch. 1995) (obtained modifications valued at between $16 million to $37.6 million of compensation and pension benefits granted to the chief executive officer of Citizens Utilities Company.)

Mr. Selinger speaks regularly on topics related to fiduciary responsibilities of public fund board members at institutional investor conferences, including "Complying With Your Fiduciary Obligations As A Public Fund Board Member," "Fiduciary Responsibilities: Keeping Your Board And Yourself Honest," "Maximizing Return On Class Action Litigation," and "Investment Litigation By Pension Funds." He is the author of "Why Funds Opt Out of Class Actions," Pensions & Investments (Feb. 20, 2006). Mr. Selinger is a member of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys and the Council of Institutional Investors.

A graduate of Columbia College, the undergraduate liberal arts division of Columbia University in the City of New York (A.B. 1975), Mr. Selinger serves as Vice-President and Director of the Columbia College Alumni Association, for which he chairs a committee on student affairs. Mr. Selinger is also a graduate of the New York University School of Law (J.D. 1978).

Mr. Selinger was given an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating a lawyer can obtain, indicating a very high to preeminent legal ability and exceptional ethical standards as established by confidential opinions from members of the Bar.
