Born in Atlanta, Georgia, to a military family, Mr. Hickox grew up in the United States and Europe before attending Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He graduated cum laude with a BSFS in international politics in 1982, and was elected to the Phi Alpha Theta history honor society. For the next 10 years, he lived and worked in Washington, D.C., and throughout Latin America as a specialist with the U.S. Department of Defense. During this same period, he was also commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. In 1995, Mr. Hickox received his juris doctorate degree from the College of William & Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law, where he was a William & Mary Fellow and served as director of Student Legal Services.
Prior to joining Bickel & Brewer, Mr. Hickox gained extensive experience in litigating complex commercial cases in both state and federal courts, as well as before domestic and international arbitral forums, while practicing in Washington, D.C., and West Virginia. He is an active member of the State Bar of Texas, the District of Columbia, the northern and southern districts of West Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits.
