Scott Harvin applies the experience and knowledge that he has acquired as a former Highway Safety Prosecutor to his work representing clients who have been injured or arrested on South Carolina 's roads and highways. A dedicated trial lawyer, Mr. Harvin believes in aggressive representation of his clients and takes great pride in the many friendships that he has developed with his current and former clients.

Mr. Harvin's civil litigation practice primarily involves representing victims and the survivors of those injured or killed in collisions with tractor-trailers or other commercial vehicles. In addition, Mr. Harvin handles other serious injury cases resulting from automobile and motorcycle accidents, defective tires or vehicle rollovers. In all types of personal injury cases, Mr. Harvin has helped clients, including those with traumatic brain damage, paraplegia, burns, and spinal injuries, recover compensation for their injuries, disabilities, wage losses and medical bills.

As a criminal defense attorney since 1994, Mr. Harvin has successfully defended those charged with all manner of crimes. However, as his prosecutorial background would foretell, his primary focus is helping those charged with crimes on South Carolina 's highways. Respected by his peers, prosecutors and law enforcement alike, Mr. Harvin has successfully defended hundreds of individuals charged with driving under the influence. Reflecting this success, Mr. Harvin is honored to have been accepted as a Founding Member of the National College of DUI Defense.

Similar to his success in DUI defense, Mr. Harvin aggressively represents clients who have been charged with drug crimes as a result of the police practice of highway drug interdiction. Defending drug cases in both Federal and State court, Mr. Harvin does not believe that a citizen's Constitutional Rights are mere technicalities as some politicians would have one believe. Instead, like Ben Franklin, he believes that those that would give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Mr. Harvin has achieved acquittals for numerous clients who have been charged with trafficking drugs. Amongst them was a man charged with trafficking 105 pounds of marijuana, and another with trafficking 98 pounds of marijuana, each on I-95. Mr. Harvin's numerous trial victories include a not guilty verdict after a six-week Federal drug conspiracy trial in which 19 out of the other 20 defendants were convicted and received substantial incarceration.

A native South Carolinian, Mr. Harvin was born in Columbia in 1965. His father John was a pediatrician and member of the Forest Acres City and Richland County Councils. His mother Margaret is a retired homemaker and tax preparer. Mr. Harvin's family taught him from an early age, the value of public service and the need to treat each and every individual with courtesy and fairness. He is the father of two sons, and is a black belt in the martial art of Sogo Goshindo.

Mr. Harvin attended Duke University . After his graduation from Duke in 1987, Mr. Harvin worked as an aid in Washington, D.C. for the late United States Representative Floyd Spence before attending law school at the University of South Carolina . He was graduated from law school in 1991 and is a past professor of political science at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie.

Mr. Harvin is a member of the South Carolina Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, the United States 4th Circuit Court of Appeals and United States Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a proud member of South Carolina Association for Justice, American Association of Justice, and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
