Steve is a shareholder in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is based in our Minneapolis office and is a member of the Financial Institutions and Real Estate Section. Steve practices principally in the areas of:
Steve has represented banks, financing and lease arms of Fortune 500 companies, other large financial institutions, receivables financiers, leasing companies, asset-based lenders, mezzanine lenders, warehouse lenders and other financiers in a variety of complex lending, structured finance, securitization, real estate, lease and other commercial transactions. Steve's representation includes management of complexities generated by multiple tier debt transactions, public debt transactions, special purpose vehicles, true sale and other securitization complexities, interaction with existing, concurrent and future equity financing, rights and exit strategies, workouts, and similar matters.
Steve has primarily represented lending clients, but has occasionally represented borrowers in connection with certain finance structures mentioned above.
Steve is admitted to practice in both Minnesota and Michigan. He received a B.A. cum laude in English from Grand Valley State University in 1991, and his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1997. After spending nearly two years in-house with GMAC-RFC, Steve joined Briggs in 2006.
