Lisa A. Harvey is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA, and Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, VA, (B.A., History, 1986). She has been practicing law since 1991, is a member of the Bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia and is admitted to practice in the following courts: the Supreme Court of the United States, the Courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Bankruptcy Court (1st Cir.), the Maryland Court of Appeals, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
Ms. Harvey is 9-time recipient of Boston Magazine's Massachusetts Super Lawyer award. She also has the distinction of holding a Martindale Hubble BV rating.
PRACTICE AREAS:
Business Law. Representation of businesses and institutional clients in general matters, including drafting and negotiation of contracts and leases; resolution of contractual disputes; collections; creditor representation in bankruptcy matters; asset seizure and repossession; corporate governance; drafting of corporate records, votes, notices, actions by consent, by-laws, shareholder agreements, operating agreements and buy-sell agreements.
Banking. Representation of lenders in collection, bankruptcy, work-out and foreclosure matters.
Employment Law. Representation of businesses and individuals. Ms. Harvey advises and represents businesses in a wide variety of employment matters and litigation, counseling businesses with respect to employment practices, policies and procedures, hiring, terminations and personnel management and strategy issues (including the do's and don'ts of interviewing and legally compliant job applications), risk management, litigation management and avoidance, employment contracts, employee evaluations, documentation policies and practices, and developments in the law, including, but not limited to, matters related to wage laws, categorization of employees and independent contractors, time-keeping, security, privacy, FMLA, paid time off, record keeping, e-mail and internet policies, anti-discrimination laws, disability and ADA compliance and posting and documentation requirements.
Ms. Harvey has significant experience with the negotiation and drafting of employment contracts, non-competition agreements, non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality agreements, separation agreements and, when applicable, independent contractor agreements, as well as with the development and drafting of employee handbooks, employment policies and procedures and job applications.
Civil Litigation. Ms. Harvey's litigation practice focuses on civil litigation, professional liability, disciplinary and employment defense. She specializes in complex litigation cases including commercial, corporate and real estate litigation, product and premises liability, contract and shareholder disputes and transactional litigation including collections, foreclosures and loan work-outs.
