Mathew K. Hargrave practices in the firm’s Chicago office. Mathew’s focus is civil litigation, including the defense of automobile, truck collision and premises liability matters, as well as complex residential and commercial construction litigation and insurance coverage disputes. His past legal experience includes representing clients in multi-million dollar injury and wrongful death cases arising from medical malpractice, automobile and truck collisions, worksite injuries and premises liability. Mathew has also performed pro-bono work at the Circuit Court of Cook County’s Chancery Division Pro Se Advice Desk assisting pro se litigants with housing foreclosure and administrative review matters.
Mathew earned a B.A. in Political Science from Providence College in Rhode Island before obtaining his Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. While in law school, Mathew was a research assistant for the Director of the Legal Research and Writing Program where he assisted in the preparation of an International edition of the ALWD Citation Manual. He also served on the law school’s Faculty Executive Committee Library and Computer Policy.
Mathew is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, where he serves on the Judicial Evaluation Committee, and is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI) and received the WBAI’s Service Award at its 2008 Judicial Reception.
