Attorney Ryan J. Harrington has been in practice for over 17 years, having worked in both Wisconsin and Illinois while focusing on criminal defense, personal injury, bankruptcy, traffic, and temporary restraining orders due to domestic abuse or harassment.
Mr. Harrington joined D'Angelo & Jones as an associate in June of 2002, and was elected partner in January of 2007. He has practiced throughout southeastern Wisconsin in more than 20 counties, and was praised for his trial work by the Wisconsin State Public Defender in an issue of its monthly publication after winning an acquittal in his very first felony jury trial in 1998. Mr. Harrington has won acquittals at jury trial for clients facing a wide range of criminal charges, including Reckless Homicide, Delivery of Cocaine, Reckless Endangerment, and Battery to a Police Officer. Mr. Harrington has also obtained millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of individuals and families injured or killed by the negligent acts of others and has successfully assisted many hundreds of individuals and families get back on their feet financially through bankruptcy.
Attorney Harrington is a former adjunct instructor in the Criminal Justice program at Bryant & Stratton College and has been recognized as a "Rising Star" by Wisconsin Super Lawyers, as published in Milwaukee Magazine. The "Rising Stars" selection process is strictly merit-based and includes peer nominations and evaluations as well as independent research of candidates. Mr. Harrington's distinction as a "Rising Star" is an honor given to no more than 2.5% of Wisconsin's lawyers.
Attorney Harrington is Avvo Rated as "Superb" and has also been included on M Magazine's Best Lawyers list. Avvo ratings are calculated using a mathematical model that considers information such as a lawyer's years in practice, professional achievements and industry recognition, as well as information from state bar associations, court records and lawyer websites. Avvo selects roughly the top 2% to 5% of lawyers in each practice area for inclusion on the M Magazine list.
In 2012, Attorney Harrington received the Client Distinction Award from Martindale-Hubble, which is given to no more than 4% of the over 900,000 attorneys listed on martindale.com and lawyers.com.
Mr. Harrington was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the first of two children. He attended Marquette University and received a bachelor of arts degree in English and history in 1992, graduating as a member of both the English and history National Honor Societies. Mr. Harrington obtained his doctor of jurisprudence in 1995 from Marquette Law School, where his grandfather, Kenneth K. Luce, had taught as a law professor for over thirty years. Mr. Harrington accepted a nomination to serve as a member of the Moot Court Board and, during portions of both his undergraduate and law school studies, worked as an intern at the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. In addition, Mr. Harrington was employed by Marquette's Educational Opportunity Program as a university tutor for economically underprivileged students during his final three years of undergraduate study and also for one year while in law school.
Attorney Harrington is licensed to practice in the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, as well as the Northern District of Illinois, and is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association as well as the Milwaukee and Waukesha County Bar Associations. He is also a current or former member of the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association, the private bar panel for the Wisconsin Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Justinian Society. Mr. Harrington is married with two children.
