Hansen, Scott Timothy

A lifelong resident of Wheeling, West Virginia, Gary A. Sacco attended parochial elementary schools and Wheeling Central Catholic High School.  After graduating from Wheeling Central, Gary attended Youngstown University, now known as Youngstown State University, and graduated from Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia.  He participated in Intercollegiate Football at both institutions and was a member of the Alpha Phi Delta social fraternity and subsequently the Woolery House Association.  After graduating from Bethany College in 1969 with a B.A. in History, Gary attended the West Virginia University College of Law.  He entered into private practice in 1972 and since then has had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Ohio County, West Virginia, Hearing Examiner for the West Virginia Human Rights Commission, contract attorney for the West Virginia Department of Highways and a lobbyist at the West Virginia Legislature. 

From 1983 through 1984, Gary served as a West Virginia State Senator for the First Senatorial District and sat as a member of the West Virginia Judiciary Committee, as well as other committee assignments.

Since 1987 Gary has held the title of Mental Hygiene Commissioner of Ohio County, West Virginia. 

Additionally, Gary has served as a member of the West Virginia State Bar Association Board of Governors and as a past President of the Ohio County Bar Association.  Currently he serves as a member of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals NICS Mental Hygiene Committee, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals Continuing Education Committee, and the West Virginia State Bar District Grievance Committee.  Gary is also frequently asked by his peers to present his thoughts and views at Mental Hygiene Seminars throughout the State of West Virginia.

As a lifelong resident of Wheeling, Gary is devoted to his community and is heavily involved in various community organizations and events. He has served as a board member of the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce, The Wheeling Forum, Habitat for Humanity, and as chairman of the Upper Ohio Valley Italian Festival.   He was also the past president, Sons of Italy, Bellaire Lodge.  He has been and remains a member of the Wheeling Central Catholic High School Finance Committee and Wheeling Central Catholic High School Advisory School Board.

Gary’s practice focuses primarily on Real Estate Law, including title examinations and certification, real estate closing transactions, and issuance of title insurance coverage.  He is an authorized agent for two national insurance companies and has been involved in countless real estate transactions in the Upper Ohio Valley of West Virginia and Ohio. Over the past 30 years, he has provided legal services to numerous banks, mortgage brokers and individuals.  In his current capacity as Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Wheeling, West Virginia, Gary utilizes his experience and expertise in handling the various real estate matters in which the municipality is involved.
